After his promotion from Missile Commander to General, Clayton M Abernathy and his trusted wingman, Chuckles, both needed some time away from base and decided that an off-duty expedition to Medellin might fit the bill for their necessary R&R. Night one, It is 23:07 hrs and they find themselves in a den of entertainment where the air was thick and the beads of sweat rolled freely. The mood was high. Chuckles took the last swig of his still icy cold vessel as his thirst was large, he turned to Abernathy and said quietly, “after another round of yes please, and no matter how hard I try, this thirst is not going away; why don’t we play a little game of charades”. "The only condition”, Chuckles insisted “GI rules”.
The GI rules of charades are as follows; As one is actively interpreting the object to their fellow player, they must do this while navigating the multiple obstacles they face whilst maintaining the straightest of lines throughout the challenge.
The challenge was gracefully accepted by Abernathy as this is a game they often played together, and he did his very best to avoid the obstacles. The portrayed object in his round was the one and only, American symbol of freedom, the Bald Eagle. An easy narrative as his Caw CAW, is one of the best going around and, at his age of 46, he follicley challenged. The night started there, and some say it escalated for the next 6 days. They were lucky to get out of there alive.
Long story short, this is how he achieved the nickname of Hawk, and the rest of the ‘holiday’ remains classified there is little other documented from their trip from 23:09 that evening. Upon their return, he was awarded the rank of General, and this is how General Hawk came to be.
Abernathy was seen wearing just like shirt on his flight homeand it is said it was bought at a flea market during their time in Columbia and it was only fitting to bring this adventure to life.

Normally I do not enjoy large prints on shirts but after seeing the striking color contrast of purple, white, blue, and dashes of deep burgundy I was captivated. The water color type design is eye catching yet subdued at the same time.
As always, JoeB manages to blend the right style with the right amount of cool. The shirt looks and feels terrific. I have worn it with shorts, and underneath a jacket at a casual party…lots of compliments on all occasions!

Very impressed by the unique designs and high end fabrics. I’ve become board with the normal run of the mill men’s casual clothing widely available but Joe Bananas is far from run of the mill; all be it somewhat expensive.
One good thing came out of Covid for me. A "life is too short to be dull". So when I found that no one around me required I strap myself back into the same suits and ties I'd been cycling through for the last 40 years, I tossed all that old stuff. I found Joe Bananas.
