Description
Barramundi is thought to be a loanword from the language of Aboriginal people traditionally from the Fitzroy River, near Rockhampton. The Top End variety of Barra are the often oversized game fish of the same species in the harbour, rives and seas surrounding the city of Darwin at the Top End of the country.
Prized by anglers for its fighting spirit and much loved for its bounty of flesh, Barra is enjoyed in the cuisines of the Indigenous, Asian and Western cuisines which make Darwin a melting-pot of cultures. Aside from these qualities, Joe Bananas 'Top End Barramundi' Raw Silk Jacket takes its inspiration from the variety of colours which shimmer on this much loved fish’s scales: aqua, emerald green, burned umber and amber.
