GUTHEGA LANDSCAPE
A Tribute to the Australian Alpine Wilderness.
Inspired by Fred Williams' evocative paintings of Guthega, this jacket captures the soul of the Australian Alps—a breathtaking fusion of cool blues, snowy whites, and earthy greens that define the rugged, untamed beauty of this alpine landscape.
Much like Williams' masterful portrayal of light and shadow across Guthega’s terrain, this handwoven raw silk jacket plays with depth and movement, reflecting the ever-changing hues of the high country. The rich texture of the weave mirrors the rough yet serene nature of the alpine environment, creating a tactile homage to one of Australia's greatest artistic visions.
Both a celebration of landscape artistry and a tribute to exploration, this jacket embodies the spirit of adventure and reverence for Australia's vast wilderness—a piece designed for those who carry the grandeur of the outdoors wherever they go.
Raw Silk Jackets
Authentically Australian, Naturally Inspired and Hand Crafted for the Absolute Individualist.
We are world famous for our Handwoven Raw Silk Jackets, inspired by the magnificent colours and textures that surround us. From the Black Opal to iconic landmarks such as Uluru, the beauty of Australia is woven into every fabric, each with a story to tell. No two textiles are ever the same, just like our clients. That’s what makes Joe Bananas so unique.
The silk is procured, hand spun, hand dyed and woven by hand in-house at Joe Bananas. On average it takes anywhere between 200-300 days of hand weaving on the loom to create a single tapestry, producing a limited yield of 25-35 yards, which in turn allows for an incredibly limited run (approx. seven to eight) to be tailored from each individual weave.
