Handwoven Raw Silk Jackets

The handwoven raw silks we produce form the centrepiece of the Joe Bananas Collection. Our silk is procured, masterfully spun, dyed and hand woven in-house making our weaves exclusive and iconic. The abundant beauty found in Australian nature is the inspiration for each weave, crafted by hand and expertly tailored for you.

After the spinning, dying and setting of the yarn, the tapestry is created. Anywhere from 200-300 days of weaving is required to create a weave. Each weave contains only one length of the warp, usually seeing 25-30 yards created each fabric total. This artisan method preserves the uniqueness and originality of each design. The Joe Bananas collection features a number of different weaving styles to achieve the distinct, individual and quality look and feel of Joe Bananas fabrics.

We’re world famous for our Handwoven Raw Silk Jackets, inspired by the magnificent colours and textures that surround us. From the Black Opal to iconic landmarks such as Uluru, the beauty of Australia is weaved into every fabric, each with a story to tell. No two textiles are ever the same, just like our clients. That’s what makes Joe Bananas so unique.
