Deep in north-western New South Wales, where the Outback sun beats down on rugged sandstone formations, lies Lightning Ridge, the legendary home of the world’s finest black opals. Once a Cretaceous seabed, this land has spent millions of years transforming fossilised ancient mammals into opalised treasures, now unearthed as some of the rarest and most dazzling gemstones on the planet.
The Lightning Ridge Black Opal Raw Silk Jacket captures the brighter, more intense spectrum of opal tones—blazing electric blues, vivid greens, fiery reds, and hints of gold—woven into a silk fabric that, like the gems themselves, demands to be seen. Subtle? Not a chance. This is a jacket for those who embrace colour, character, and individuality.

FUN FACT: When Paul Hogan (a.k.a. Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee) first hit celebrity status, he claimed to be from Lightning Ridge, helping to boost the town’s reputation. Turns out, that was just good marketing—Hogan’s actually from Sydney.

You will receive a complimentary Fitting Consult (by Zoom) with one of our Lead Stylists with any purchase of a custom tailored Jacket. Our team will contact you as soon as possible to schedule this at a convenient time for you.
This will include full measuring, a styling consult and our undivided attention to ensure you get the Perfect Fit for you and your taste.
We will then craft a pattern with your name on it, cut your garment to size and make from scratch just for you. Our Tailored collection is true custom fitting for the Perfect Fit Guarantee.

This is one of seven pairs of the linen & silk trousers that I have purchased. These run from the more conservative (black. indigo) to the far more expressive (yellow, lilac, mulberry). They all have the same fit, that I feel is very comfortable and flattering. I can wear the more expressive colors, including the yellow, to brighten up my day and to wear something unique that makes a statement that I have a more unique personal fashion.
This is a very colorful shirt that goes with just about any pair of pants and/or shorts. It is a true "Joe Bananas" statement shirt that brings out the most playful side of you. It is very comfortable to wear and makes an absolute statement.
A bright shirt with multiple colors that can be paired with many different colored trousers. Some of the colors will match just about anything, and the black background gives it a universal appeal. As a result I find it very versatile, and it certainly is "loud" enough to catch anyone's attention if that is what you want. I wear it because it is a fun shirt that I think indicates happiness and joy.

These Ivory Linen & Silk Trousers are easily one of the best warm-weather pieces I’ve owned. The fabric is exceptional, incredibly light and breathable with that perfect blend of structure from the linen and a smooth, refined softness from the silk. They genuinely feel like you’re wearing nothing, especially in heat, but still drape in a way that looks polished and elevated.

The Sky Blue Linen & Silk Jacket is incredibly light and comfortable. It honestly feels like you’re wearing nothing at all, while still looking polished and refined. Perfect for warm weather, it drapes beautifully and stays breathable all day. A great balance of style and comfort.
As usual, a perfect fit from Joe Bananas. The store does an excellent job with fit. As for the color, it is not for everyone, but I love it. It is vibrant and goes with a multitude of outfits. I would highly recommend it, or some other jacket that fits your taste.
