TULLY BANANA
Vibrant Colours. Lush Textures. A Celebration of the Tropics.
The Tully Banana Raw Silk Jacket is a tribute to the vibrant banana plantations of North Queensland, particularly the town of Tully—known for both its highest rainfall in Australia and the famous Big Golden Gumboot.
Tully’s lush landscapes, drenched in tropical rain, create a breathtaking tapestry of vibrant greens, golden yellows, and earthy browns—a natural spectacle that has inspired the rich colours and intricate textures of this unique jacket. Just as the bananas ripen under the tropical sun and thrive in the region’s abundant rain, this jacket is an expression of nature’s exuberance and vitality.
The vivid golden yellow silk of the jacket mirrors the ripening bananas hanging on the trees, while deep greens echo the dense tropical foliage of Tully’s plantations. Woven with a striking texture, it celebrates the lush, abundant environment that has made Tully the heart of Australia's banana-growing industry.
Raw Silk Jackets
Authentically Australian, Naturally Inspired and Hand Crafted for the Absolute Individualist.
We are world famous for our Handwoven Raw Silk Jackets, inspired by the magnificent colours and textures that surround us. From the Black Opal to iconic landmarks such as Uluru, the beauty of Australia is woven into every fabric, each with a story to tell. No two textiles are ever the same, just like our clients. That’s what makes Joe Bananas so unique.
The silk is procured, hand spun, hand dyed and woven by hand in-house at Joe Bananas. On average it takes anywhere between 200-300 days of hand weaving on the loom to create a single tapestry, producing a limited yield of 25-35 yards, which in turn allows for an incredibly limited run (approx. seven to eight) to be tailored from each individual weave.
