Description
The Gumnut is the heartiest seed of life for the Australian Eucalyptus. Heavily reliant on bushfires (Aussie term for wildfire), many of the eucalypt species are adapted to fire and have evolved to ensure the seeds survive the intense heat of a fire to resprout. Depending on the age, climate conditions, they will vary with colour, whilst small, their incredibly beautiful and detailed speckling is the inspiration for this stunning tapestry.
This tapestry is eucalyptus colour based with earthy speckled notes and makes for a unique piece within the collection. Australian folklore has seen the Gumnut celebrated in the famous May Gibb’s children’s story of ‘Snugglepot and Cuddlepie’, the Gumnut Babies, a staple of any Aussie kid’s bedtime story time. This is our celebration.
