Raw Silk Jacket Inspiration

The Rainbow Serpent or Rainbow Snake is a common deity, often a creator god, in Aboriginal Australia mythology. It is named for the shape of a rainbow and the shape of a snake. When a rainbow is seen in the sky, it is said to be the Rainbow Serpent moving from one waterhole to another. It is viewed as a giver of life, through its association with water, but can be a destructive force if angered. The rainbow serpent is one of the most common and well known Aboriginal stories, and it is very important to their society.

With such a beautiful and culturally-rich inspiration, it was important to Joe that the weave of 'The Rainbow Serpent’ Raw Silk Jacket encapsulated the magic of this dreamtime deity. Striking flecks of colour are interwoven amongst the sand and black silk to create wonderful texture and interest. The diversity in colour afford this jacket a great flexibility in style, perfectly positioned for any occasion.
